In a world in 10 years in the future, vampires represent the vast majority of the population with only 5% of the human race remaining. This presents particular problems such as providing food for the vampire - human blood - is declining and rationing is now the norm. There is growing evidence that vampires deprived of an adequate blood supply are themselves creatures of evolution in wild and vile attack anyone and anything to survive. Dr. Edward Dalton, a vampire and hematologist who works for a pharmaceutical company, has been working in the search for artificial blood supply that meets the needs of the society of vampire. He is friendly to humans and sees his work as a way to relieve their suffering, but their views on finding a solution to significantly change when she meets someone who found a way to transform itself from being a vampire take it again in human form.
